SUMMARY:
Harriet Tubman was born a slave in Maryland around 1820. She
married a free man named John Tubman when she was still a young woman,
and five years later, fearing that she was to be sold, Harriet took off
alone at night to escape from the world she’d known since birth.
Harriet would go on to repeat
the journey many more times, seeking to save others from slavery, and
putting herself at risk repeatedly. Her bravery was legendary, and so
was her success…
