working environment for all staff, students and visitors.
Health & Safety
Policy and Management Program
The Board’s comprehensive Health & Safety
Management Program is built on the foundation of
accident injury prevention. Our program contains
specific guidelines for workplace safety, procedures
and processes all designed to REDUCE and PREVENT accidents
and injuries.
Additional components include: WHMIS Management
Program, Asbestos Management Program and our Workplace
Violence Prevention Management Program.
All Health & Safety
Programs are present and accessible at every school
and GECDSB facility.
There are also a number of other Board programs
which promote safety. These include our Emergency
Response Management Program, Playground Equipment
Management Program and Fire Safety Plans.
THINK Campaign
The Board has
implemented a new Health & Safety
awareness program titled “Think”. It’s
an information campaign comprised of 5 different
original posters which focus on accident and injury
prevention in the following categories:
- Slips, Trips & Falls
- Decorating using Ladders & Step
Stools
- Housekeeping and Safe Storage
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Violence Prevention
