Wordles for the Holidays
She called it a good idea, but I'd suggest that Glenwood's CIESC Amy Vreman's idea was a great one.
At the recent CIESC meeting, some time was spend exploring some of the Web 2.0 types of applications. A group spent some time with Wordle coming up some interesting classroom ideas.
Wordle, as we discussed last month, is a web based application used to create interesting tag clouds. It's got the typical function of enlarging terms that are used more than once, but in addition, it features quick and easy font, colour, and style changes.
So, Amy's idea?
With overtones of media literacy, character and word recognition, frequencing of word use, etc., Amy took some of the songs of the season and fed them to Wordle. How many can you recognize? In what ways could you use this concept in your classroom? Can you extend it?
