FirstClass...Now
with Podcasting!
Last month, we took a look at the Blogging capabilities
with the new FirstClass client. A couple of clicks and you're immediately
posting your own blog. Posting a podcast is just as simple.
So, what's a Podcast? Essentially, it's a media file that your visitors play in their browser. Using the facilities of FirstClass, it becomes an MP3 file which can be played with many media players and also downloaded onto a portable player to enjoy on the go.
Setting up your podcast...
First, you need to download the latest FirstClass client. In the left panel, you'll find a new set of options. In this case, you'll select Web Publishing.
Let's create a New Web Page.
Look at all of the choices! Choose Podcast.
This creates a new folder in your web publishing area called Podcast. If you want, you can change the name of the folder. Select it and you now have the option to create a New Episode.
The key to being a successful podcaster is just like being a successful radio show host. You need to have a running series of episodes. Notice that you have the ability to create New Episodes each time that you go in. You could create a new podcast daily if you wanted.
You don't even need an external audio editor to get started. Click on "Record Episode" and record your message directly into a FirstClass podcast message. Save it and instantly you're a radio host!
