Still in search of additional resources dealing with the biggest change to the Canadian map in 50 years? Check out this site.
Every province and territory needs to have a coat of arms and a flag. Have you seen Nunavuts?
The coat of arms
incorporates a number of symbols representing the past and
the heritage of the territory. It's an interesting
activity to identify all of the various components of the
coat of arms. Even more interesting is reading about each of
the elements and the strong symbolism that each carries with
it into the design. The flag is much
simpler in design. And yet, it is no
simpler in symbolism. As can be expected, there is a strong
impact of nature contained in the design.

In the previous website devoted to Nunavit, a plug-in allowed you to visit the speaking map. At this site, yet another element of Nunavut culture comes across in web design. From a link on the front page, you will download the Nunacom font. Install it on your system and you're all set to enjoy the characters in Inuktitut syllabics on this webpage.
But there's more. Explore the site and follow the links to the offer for the commemorative book "Nunavut '99". To celebrate the April 1 events, copies of the book are free to schools and libraries provided you pay the shipping and handling!
