Online Conferencing.

There are a lot of conferences available on our First Class system. Many of them are publically available. For example, if you are interested in any of the supports that are available for using computer technology in the curriculum, you'll open the "Computers in the Classroom" conference.

Once opened, you'll notice that there are all kinds of conferences neatly tucked away inside.

These are all "public" conferences and are freely available to anyone. All that you have to do is wander around the system opening folders until you find the ones that you want. Given that there's so much available, they do have to be organized this way, lest your First Desktop be completely full of folders.

Beyond the public conferences, there are all kinds of "private" conferences. These exist for specific purposes such as special projects or just groups of people who need to collaborate on this and that. In an attempt to make sure that you get the most payback from the system, it's good to make sure that you're subscribed to all of the private conferences that you should.

So, for example, there's a private conference devoted to the staff at Gore Hill Public School. If you're on staff there, you should have the conference sitting on your desktop. Each private conference has a moderator who adds and removes people accordingly. You would simply let the moderator know that you want to have access to the conference and magically it happens. Well, not necessarily magically, but you know what I mean.

If you feel the need to have access to a conference but don't know who the moderator is, there's still a way. Send a message to "Conf. Administrators". This is actually another conference that the moderators have access to just for the purpose of making sure that people get subscribed to where they should be.

Each school has a conference. Each employee group has a conference. Actually, there's a huge collection of conferences available. Make sure that you're everywhere that you need to be!
