Into the Vortex
With the current release of the Notebook software comes the official release of the Lesson Activity Toolkit. It is listed as "Version 1", and that's usually an indication that a piece of software isn't quite done.
Well, done or not, it's pretty good and comes with a nice collection that let you create your own interactive activities. Access the Lesson Activity Toolkit by selecting the Gallery tab and then the Lesson Activity Toolkit.
As you scroll through the list of "Interactive and Multimedia" objects, you'll find this one activity that appears to be staring at you! It's entitled a "Vortex Sort". Sounds interesting so let's drag it out to the desktop.
Freaky.
We're enticed to click on the "Edit" button to begin so let's do it.
I'm going to label Vortex 1 "Fruits" and Vortex 2 "Vegetables". Then, in the area at the bottom put in a nice collection of fruits and vegetables and select the vortex for the correct answer. Password protect it, if you must...
Click OK and we're ready to save this as a page in a Notebook file and play it on the SMART Board immediately.
Students will come to the SMART Board and drag their choice of fruit or vegetable to the appropriate vortex. Check it out...I don't want to spoil the fun of seeing how this handles correct and incorrect responses.
