Canadians go to the polls this October 14 to elect a new government. To help the research and things related to elections and the local candidates, I've created an Election Resources Page.

Links to the page are available from the GEC Computers in the Classroom page and the Student Reference Portal.

The Pluralist

Annually, some of the very best of creative writing from Greater Essex County students is shared with the system. Printed copies are sent to schools so that it may be enjoyed there.

Online, however, you have another option. A PDF version of the document is available for the world to download and enjoy.

A featured secondary school website this month is Riverside Secondary School.

Here, you'll find absolutely everything that you need to know about attending this school. Complete department, club and sports listings let the internet connected visitor know about all of the benefits of this excellent school.

Essex Public School

It's not often that you get to say "Here's a brand new website for a brand new school". However, we can with this school which opened its doors for the first time this September.

We now can all find out school colours and mascot right from the opening page. Once the school develops its own character, the website will keep us up to date with the newest of the great schools in the GECDSB.

Notebook Resources

The implementation of SMART Boards has resulted in all kinds of excitement and heightened student engagement in our schools. As we learn all about the effectiveness and what are the best practices for the technology, folks are not hiding their efforts.

Log into FirstClass, go to Public Conferences, and then Computers in the Classroom to a folder entitled SMART Notebook sharing. You'll have instant access to documents that have proved to be tried and true to the Ontario Curriculum by GECDSB educators.

Updated this month...the ELTIP group decided that the huge collection of resources made finding things a challenge. So, sub-conferences have been created to collect notebooks by division. Hopefully, this will speed the process of finding some great GECDSB created notebooks.
