Pluto's Movements: 2001

These two maps show Pluto's position from 26 February 2001 - 4 June 2001, and from 4 June 2001 - 6 October 2001, respectively. During January - early February, and October - December, it is too close to the horizon and/or sun for amateur observation.

Please note that Pluto will appear to be a "white point" indistinguishable from a 14th magnitude star -- the bluish symbols used on these maps exaggerate its brightness CONSIDERABLY. You will need a telescope of AT LEAST 8 inch aperture to see Pluto.

Also note that each map covers an area of only about 1 1/4 degrees by 1 3/4 degrees.
