Can I add photo images I have saved to my Student Writing Center documents?

Yes. Find the file you would like to use. Open the photo to view it Choose Copy from the Edit menu. Close the image and return to The Student Writing Center. Choose Paste from the Edit menu. Use your mouse to resize and reposition the image if necessary

 

Can I add photo images from a webpage to my Student Writing Center documents?

Yes. Find the file you would like to use. Place your over the image and click the right mouse button. If you are using a Macintosh computer click and hold the mouse button. When the menu appears choose Copy Image. .Close the webpage and return to The Student Writing Center. Choose Paste from the Edit menu. Use your mouse to resize and reposition the image if necessary.

 

How can I change the layout of my newsletter?

If you want to change the layout i.e. add /remove the masthead or the number of columns click the Layout button at the top of the screen.

 

How can I make the ruler display so I can change the formatting?

Choose Ruler from the View menu and you will be able to change the alignment of the text and spacing.

 

How can I change the letterhead in a letter?

Click on the body of the letter so the Layout button appears. Click on the Layout button. When the Letter Layout window appears choose With Letterhead. Then click OK. Select the new letterhead and click OK. You will be asked if you want to replace the letterhead. Click OK.

 

Where can the students find out information about writing a letter?

Click the Tips button. Students can find information bout creating a social letter, business letter, resume and cover letter.

 

Where can the students find grammar help?

Choose Grammar Tips form the Tools menu. The grammar help covers topics such as punctuation, capitalization, plurals, abbreviations, numbers and using the right word.

 

How can the students access the thesaurus?

Use the mouse to highlight the word. Choose Use Thesaurus from the Tools menu. the Thesaurus window will appear with meanings and synonyms. Click once on the desired synonym to highlight it. Click Replace.

 

How do the students go to a previous journal entry?

Open the journal and click on the Calendar button. When the calendar appears navigate to the desired date. Then click OK.

 

How do my students add a bibliography to their report.

Open the report file. Click the Biblio button at the top of the page. When the Choose a Reference Type window appears use your mouse to select the reference type then click Create Entry. Enter the pertinent information and click Done. If you have not entered information in all of the fields a message will appear telling you that you have not missed some information. Click OK. Click Done. Click Return to Document.

 

How do student edit their bibliography in their report?

Scroll down your document to the bibliography section. Click on the entry you want to change. When the window appears update the information or Remove Entry if you want it deleted.. After editing the entry click Done.

 

How do students change the layout of their sign?

If you want to change your sign from landscape to portrait click the Layout button at the top of the screen. when the Sign Layout window appears click Page Setup. choose the orientation you want. Click OK. Click OK again. .
