Variations

I could call this column "Bad pictures made Good".

But, last month's column was called "Consistency" so I find it ironic that this month's is "Variations"!

A rule of thumb for good photography is that you start with the best possible picture and then doctor it. That's great advice and and why good photographers take lots of pictures to ensure that they have a great shot..

But, what happens if you don't have the best of pictures to begin with? Can you make them better? With Photoshop Elements, there are all kinds of tools. However, there's one functionality that makes life so nice in this rush-rush world.

Check out the following Water Lillies file.

Now, this was a spectacular picture to begin with but supposed we just quickly wanted to modify it. From the Enhance Menu, just select Variations!

Want a little more red? Want a little more green? Just click on the variation that you want and select it. All of the appropriate changes have been made to your original picture.

What could be easier?
