Using Kidpix

If you're a kid, there are very few things that cannot be illustrated with Kidpix. And, the latest copy of the Ministry licensed software, Kid Pix Deluxe 3, makes it even easier and a great deal of fun in the process. New tools and new sounds let you do all kinds of things with the wackiest tools that you'll ever find in a piece of software.

I have a great deal of fun in my workshops, but the Kid Pix workshop has to be the ultimate. It takes moments to learn the basics and then hours to itemize all of the different expectations that can be addressed using this wonderful piece of software.

This generally happens long before we even talk about slideshows, creating multimedia books, Flash documents, etc.

If you're just getting started with this software, you may wish to visit this site to see what others have done with Kid Pix in their classrooms. In addition to commercial products and services for sale, the author of this site has just amassed a big collection of examples of classroom use of the software.

I think that one of the more original uses and one of my favourites is near the bottom of the list. A Grade 3 class was doing a unit on the Ming Dynasty and the students used the Kid Pix tools to illustrate Tiger Slippers!
