How about something a little seasonal? Check out
the Christmas tree below. Click the button to start.
It's a great little activity to get your class into
the holiday spirit.
First, let's draw the tree. I'm going to create a
frame in cell 5 on my timeline and draw myself a Christmas tree. I'll
use the stroke and fill set to green for the tree and to a brownish colour
for the trunk and the ground. I'll name this the tree layer.
Add a new layer and draw an ornament
lying on the ground. Select the stroke and the fill and group them together.
The easiest way to select both is to just double click on the fill. I'll
call this Golden Ornament. It's going to start on the ground but will
end up on a branch. Move along the timeline and insert a keyframe about
30 frames later. Move the globe to the branch and create a motion tween.
Now, instead of the ornament flying
from the ground to the branch, let's have it take a nice little trip.
Make sure that the Golden Ornament layer is select and from the Insert
Menu, let's insert a motion guide. Now, starting with your ornament,
draw a path on your screen for the ornament to follow rather than taking
a straight line.
Finally, use the selector tool and pick
up your ornament and make sure that it's located on the motion guide.
CTRL+ENTER will let you test your masterpiece.
Now, add a few more ornaments and you've
got an interesting piece of animation. The quality of your students'
Christmas trees is only limited by imagination.
