This Month ... Much More Clipart

Nothing makes a stack great like having a wealth of clipart there to illustrate your cards. The Hyperstudio program comes with a great deal of good clipart. But, there's even more clipart available to you on your computer, thanks to Ministry licensing. Add to that any of the clipart that you may have additionally purchased and your stacks should never be boring again.

Loading a clipart file:
It's almost too easy. From the "Objects" menu, select "Add a Graphic Object". Hyperstudio will open its dialogue window where you tell it that you're going to get the graphic from a Disk File. The first choices that Hyperstudio present are its own. But, you're free to navigate your way through your computer's hard drive or through the network to your cache of clipart files. Hyperstudio will load files in the bmp, pcx, gif, ,jpg, tif, pic, tga, and bif file formats. Locate the files in your Microsoft Works, Publisher, Clarisworks, Presentations, ... directory and let Hyperstudio know that you want to use a particular file. Once the file has been selected, you have Hyperstudio's lasso or rectangular area selector to pick the part of the graphic that you actually want to use and it gets layered into your card.

Suppose, that for some reason, I would like to include a clipart of a "Golden Grover" in one of my cards...

Later, if you wish to pick that clip art up and move it around, double click on it with the selector tool and treat it just as you would any other regular piece of Hyperstudio clip art.

Copying and Pasting:
That's a lot of work. Can't I just copy from one application and paste it into Hyperstudio? Sure, but there is one important restriction that you need to be aware of. Once you paste the graphic into a Hyperstudio card, it becomes part of the background. As long as you're happy with it in place, leave it there. However, if you decide to move it around later, you won't be able to. It's not layered on top of the card; it has actually become part of the card.

If it's good enough for clipart...
Absolutely. Those WAV files that you have stored on your hard drive work very nicely in your Hyperstudio stack. Just tell Hyperstudio that you want to import sounds from a disk file and select the one that you want!

Copyright:
As with all things, just because you "can" do something, it doesn't mean that you "should" do it. Check that you have copyright clearance before you use clipart and WAV files from other sources.
