With
the New Year on us, there will be much written
about the Year 2000 and all of the promise that
it has for your computer and other glitches.
Without a doubt, it will be something that all of
us should be mindful of. .Look for all kinds of
hints and tips to ensure that your life doesn't
pull over to the side of the road a year from
now.
In
the meantime, life does go on. January is
typically the month where a warm modem means
staying indoors can at least be more interesting
than braving snowy roads. Other than looking out
a window, there are many Internet sites that keep
one abreast of the current and the impending
weather. My favourites include the Weather Channel and the local NBC
television channel, WDIV. WDIV includes a link to Intellicast, which is a weather
junky's utopia.
Of
course, on January 1, most people make New Year's
Resolutions. I used to do that but it never
panned out.
Instead,
I thrive on reading other people's resolutions.
For example, if you're an avid movie goer, this site might be of
interest to you. Computer resolutions are also
interesting to note even if you can't keep the
traditional ones like backing up your hard drive,
defragmenting your disk, but Adobe has a terrific set of
pages to help make the "new" you by
using PhotoDeluxe to change your hair colour.
This does include one assumption that makes it
difficult for me...
If
you do partake in creating your own resolutions,
check out this site. No more excuses about
writing your resolutions on a sheet of paper and
then losing it. You'll be able to put it in
writing and the site will remind you by email periodically just to keep
you honestly on track.
January
is also a huge month for football. The Superbowl has its own website. It will contain
many stories about the players and the teams as
they head towards Superbowl Sunday but there
really is only one ancillary website worth
visiting. Those who have known me through the
slow years know that I'll check in on the Minnesota Vikings on a daily basis.
January
would be a very boring month without a modem.
Happy
New Year
