Student Reference Portal

Below, you will find a "Student Reference Portal".  This was designed to be a starting point for student references on the Internet.

In the first column are references that may prove helpful from our district web site.  The second column has two sets of search engines.  In the top are some of the places that you may send your students, safe in the knowledge that the contents of the site have been approved for use by kids.   The bottom area are links to some of the most popular all-inclusive search engines on the Internet.  The third column deals with some generic sites that we find are used over and over.  Finally, the fourth column is a great spot for Canadian news references.

The concept here is that this portal will be placed on the district server and you may have your student work stations load this portal as its default home page.  Of particular use is the section of the district's Acceptable Use Policy as it applies to appropriate use of the Internet.

The content can be changed at any time.   If you know of a website that really needs to be here, let me know!  The portal, without all of my comments, is available at:  http://www.gecdsb.on.ca/d&g/portal/portal.htm.
