Welcome to the first truly "online" version of Doug and Grover Online.

For three years now, Essex County Board of Education computer using professionals received a copy of CIESC Contact! in their mailboxes near the first of the month.  Similarly, teachers for the Board of Education for the City of Windsor looked forward to reading the lastest in the journey of Grover's Travels on the Information Superhighway.  While the format for the two newsletters was somewhat different, the goal was always the same...to keep the readers current with new ways of incorporating computer technology in the classroom.

With this new format, the goal will remain the same.  The method of delivery has to change however.  The last full run of CIESC Contact!, for example, was 550 copies.  Assuming the same run for Grover's Travels, and we're talking about cutting a major swathe through forests.  At the same time, the readership was still limited to those who were on the mailing list.

This move to a web based approach should make access to the newsletter a great deal easier.  Whether you have the ability to do things at work or at home through an Internet service provider, the latest issue will always be there.  Past issues too!

In terms of content, look to the online newsletter to provide the same types of information that you used to look for in CIESC Contact! and Grover's Travels. We'll try to provide some interesting Internet sites that we've visited along with suggestions for how to use them. As well, upcoming Professional Development opportunities will be showcased in addition to the types of things that computer using educators need to know.

But my school isn't connected to the Internet yet!  That may be so but your principal is connected.  Barring that, in the short term, a single printed copy will be sent to each school.

So, sit back and enjoy the new format.  If you have feedback or comments, please do so.  If you have ideas or concepts at your school that you would like to publish in a future issue, send it to us by email.
