Class Tips and Hints |
Configuring your First Class account can be fun. It also lets you show a little of your personality in the process. One of the things that is most helpful when you reply to an email message is to quote the important part of the previous message and include it in your reply. The recipient then gets the context of your reply and knows just what your frame of reference is. First Class does a nice job with replies. You simply highlight the text that you wish in the reply and select the reply comment. Did you know that you can control how this quoted text looks? There is a danger in doing this because there are just so many options! You're going to head to the EDIT menu and then select PREFERENCES.
You'll then need to select the CONTENT tab and, further, the DISPLAY tab. It's here that you get a chance to change things. For example, by default, First Class displays text at 100%. But, suppose you want it a bit bigger? Since I do a lot of presentations, I have my text magnified by 133% over the original. Now, looking down, there a whole section dealing with how QUOTED TEXT is to appear. In my case, I asked First Class to use Tombstone font (a Hyperstudio font), make it bold, italics, and red. Now, when I quote text, here's what it looks like.
OK, not exactly a piece of art. However, you can do better. Play with settings and fonts and see what you can come up with. By the way, this only appears as a piece of art to people on our First Class system. Once your email message gets set to another system, it will display whatever the recipient's mail client is configured to accept.
