Betty Bunhead Blog
http://bettybunhead.blogspot.com/

The Western Regional Computer Advisory Committee hosted a day dealing with the Read/Write web and led by Will Richardson in December. We got to take one guest with us and I knew that Sharon Seslija was very interested in immersing herself into this world and extended an invitation to her. The result? The Betty Bunhead Blog. I kid you not.

Sharon has promised to make it a resource for Teacher Librarians as she comments on all things surrounding school libraries.

The Western Regional Computer Advisory Committee had its annual Symposium in December and Will was the morning keynote speaker. His speech was inspirational about the use of the new technologies and the impact that it can have on learning.

Paul Cornies from LDSS was in attendance and he was inspired to start his own blog. What's really unique about Paul's blog is that he's not commenting on the weather or his personal life. Instead, he's taken a far more academic approach and asks us to consider famous quotes and somehow relate the importance of the quote to us.

I think this is an incredibly unique approach to blogging and would encourage everyone to click on over and read and comment on notable quotes.

The afternoon keynote speaker at Symposium was Jeremy Gutsche. Jeremy talked about the viral approach to weaving interest in innovations. I think that this blog has the potential to be viral as students become inspired to comment on the importance and relevance of quotes to them.

So, who are these guys?

Will Richardson is a well renowned speaker, writer, and Read/Write application enthusiast. He maintains a blog at the address above and seems to make entries on a daily basis.

It's incredibly engaging reading if you need one spot to take advantage of this technology to find out the latest innovations in web technologies and generally as they could be applied to education.

This winter and spring takes us to another round of books for the Blue Spruce event. To support the study of this importing reading event, turn to our Blue Spruce Resort page.

Here you'll find relevant web links, a SMART Notebook document that you may download and use with your readers (thanks Kelly Moore for the images) and the online survey where students may vote for their favourite book.

I expect that this page will continue to grow as we identify and add resources designed to enhance the Special Education classrooms throughout the District.
