Video Resources

One of the motivating things that we can bring into learning is video. Some of the Internet resources are blocked at the firewall as they contain content that may be objectionable. But, don't give up. There are lots of other resources with great content.

A new page devoted to them has been created. It's available directly at the link above or from the teachers page on the Student Reference Portal.

SCH4U Research Project

Grade 12 at Vincent Massey Secondary School is taking on a new approach to student research.

Teacher Jean-Louis Bontront is using the power of a Wiki to let students collaborate on their Chemistry research. Using the ability to assign privacy to various pages, groups are able to work together on their research and still keep it private from their classmates until presentation time.

The wiki is an interesting addition to the course website.

Character Development Resources

This is an important aspect of student lives. Everyone should mature with good, strong values. In addition to videos and posters within schools, turn here for links to external website with character development content.

From the BRDHS website, "Ms. Comartin is on-line - Ms. Comartin has a website that allows her students to view readings, work, and to contribute ideas and comments to. Check it out at http://noblesenglish.wordpress.com"

Notebook Resources

The implementation of SMART Boards has resulted in all kinds of excitement and heightened student engagement in our schools. As we learn all about the effectiveness and what are the best practices for the technology, folks are not hiding their efforts.

Log into FirstClass, go to Public Conferences, and then Computers in the Classroom to a folder entitled SMART Notebook sharing. You'll have instant access to documents that have proved to be tried and true to the Ontario Curriculum by GECDSB educators.
