Thanks for all the smiley faced messages I received after last month's column. (I still don't like them...)

This month ... Mailing Lists
Do you ever have occasion to send the same message to more than one person. Certainly, within First Class, you can add multiple names in the TO: field. If you're doing this on a regular basis, you may be just ripe for creating a mailing list. p.s. it also works well if you have a number of relatives, all with email accounts!

If you don't have an Address Book on your desktop, select "Address Book" from the "Service" Menu. Once you have an Address Book on your desktop, double click to open it.

At the top of the Windows, the left button is entitled "New Personal Mailing List". Click to start a list. Give it a name and begin to enrol members into the list. In the example below, I have a mailing list titled "CIESC - Elementary" which contains the name of each of the elementary school contacts. The list is fairly lengthy with at least one contact from each of our 62 schools.

Now, when it comes time to send things like meeting agendas to all of the computer contacts, I start a new message and address it to "CIESC - Elementary". My message is then created and sent. First Class takes care of the task of stuffing the messages into the appropriate mailboxes.
