Task: Each student shall read an award
winning work of fiction for young adults. Students will complete an
in depth study of that work.
Application:
1. Choose a novel to read. It must have won one of the awards listed
on page 3 . A large selection of books is available in the library.
If you do not choose from this selection, Mr. Stafferton must approve
your book before your project begins.
2. Report your selection to Mr. Stafferton by completing the
bibliographic information sheet on page 4 . This sheet is due
January 14, 2000.
3. READ YOUR BOOK. This may sound obvious but there is
a lot of work to complete that cannot begin until you have finished
reading your book.
4. Compile your novel study. Your novel study project shall contain
the following:
Page One: Title Page - You must include the title of your
book, the authors name, and your name. The title page should
include artwork relative to your book. It may be produced by hand or
by computer.
Page Two: Table of Contents - Include a list of all
pages and activities in your project.
Page Three +: Web Quest - Follow all instructions on the web
quest to complete the four mandatory activities.
Remaining Pages: The rest of the your novel study project will
consist of a selection of activities from this package. Make sure you
complete the minimum number of activities in each section. Pay
attention to the organisation and overall appearance of your project.
You will be graded on how it looks and how easy it is to read.
Second Last Page: Bibliography - Give your books
bibliographic information in the correct format. If you used any
other resources to complete your project, please cite them here.
Last Page: Self-Evaluation - Complete the self-evaluation page
given on page 8 of this package.
