This month ... make sure that you're experienced!
We've talked about this before. Being an experienced Hyperstudio user unlocks so many additional features of the program. As I visit schools, I see so many people that aren't "experienced". Once you've handled the basics, it really behooves you to let Hyperstudio know that you are experienced. (I'm in trouble now because I've used "behoove" in a sentence and it doesn't appear in my Penguin Canadian dictionary...)
How do you do it?
It's simple. From the EDIT MENU, select the very
bottom menu item, PREFERENCES. The following preferences
window appears.

Make sure that the bottom box is checked, and Hyperstudio knows that you're experienced. Now you're free to check out back issues of GEC Computers in the Classroom to find out just what this lets you do. To that list, let me add another thing.
With animations, you can have part of your card actually move around on the screen. Simply, create a button tied to an animation, draw the animation path, and let it rip. Oops, before ripping, make sure you change your tool. Remember Doug's First Rule of Hyperstudio...no matter what you're doing, you've got the wrong tool.
One of my favourite animations is the frog. It jumps so nicely, and you can get it to do lots of things on your screen. After you've chosen the animation and drawn the path, Hyperstudio responds with a finally dialogue that lets you have control over the animation. Take a look at the two dialogues below. One is what you get with the regular Hyperstudio preferences and the other comes once you're experienced.

EXPERIENCED HYPERSTUDIO PREFERENCES

Which frog would you rather control?! Experienced users get to control speed but, from a fun perspective, have the ability to allow clones.
Behoove yourself. Get experienced.
