• Appleworks version 6.2

This software is contained on the January Official Release of the Ontario Curriculum Unit Planner 3.0. In addition, Filemaker Pro 5.5v2 in on the CD-ROM.

It's no secret that I'm a fan of the Curriculum Unit Planner. With one application, you have access to all of the Expectations of the Ontario Curriculum, an incredible set of resources in the Teachers Companion (freshly updated with this release), as well as access to all kinds of Curriculum Units and Curriculum Profiles housed at the OCUP website.

Copies of the Curriculum Unit Planner are being distributed to schools via the CIESC.

The big concern is Appleworks, version 6.2. This is a major update to the Appleworks program. Included in this release is the ability to embed tables into word processing documents, a slideshow presentation package, and updated translators for converting documents to and from Appleworks format. This is a must if you interchange documents with Microsoft Office users.

Appleworks 6.2 does contain a feature for saving its documents in Appleworks 5 format. However, the key to remember is that version 6 will read and write to version 5 format but not the other way. Appleworks 5 remains the District's standard and teachers who install the software on home computers really need to save in version 5 format at the present time.
