This web page is suitable for K-2 students and provides many estimation and counting activities. It addresses several expectations from the Measurement strand: height, length, money, time, and capacity. It also connects to other curriculum areas: Phys. Ed., Music, Language Arts.

Math Lesson Plans

This is divided into three segments- K-5, 6-8, 9-12, and addresses all strands. Each lesson plan consists of grade level, strand, an overview, objectives, materials needed, procedures, and some encouraging students to talk and write about what they have learned

Mathematics Clarifying the TEKS

This supports investigations and co-operative group work and is suitable for 1-8, including grades 9-10. Although it lacks an assessment rubric, it includes assessment tasks and extensions and consists of guiding and summary questions which could be used as sources for student communication but that are implicit rather than explicit in the directions.

Patterns in Mathematics

As mathematics is often thought of as the science of patterns, patterns are a unifying theme in school mathematics. This primary/junior site has activities where students will explore three pattern categories: logic, number & word. For each category, an introduction outlines the rational for teaching the topic, briefly describes 2 activities, explains the relationship of the activities to different grade levels, and connects the topic to N.C.T.M. standards.

Academy Curricular Exchange

There are 32 pages linked to this page. Each one consists of a consistently laid out lesson plan, with suggested grade level, materials needed, procedures, purpose and extensions (tying it all together). Each lesson is very practical, with class procedures laid out in detail. There is a wide variety of math subjects covered, with most suggested for multi-grade levels.

AAAMath

This interactive K-8 site addresses all strands and includes an explanation of the math topic and practice questions. A correct answer is given if an error is made.

BBC Education-Maths File-Games Wheel

An interactive, fun site where each game/print-off explores areas of the U.K's National Curriculum. Strands are similar to Ontario's, but games are only available if you install the free, (takes 20 min.) Shockwave plug-in.The "Animal Weigh in" game may be confusing, (makes conversions between pounds and kilograms, kilograms and stone), and the money symbol is L (pound).

Suitable for early primary students, this interactive site uses visuals of "bricks" to show arrays. It investigates multiplication facts from 1 to 4. The instructional page makes the connection between addition and multiplication. Also includes 16 practice problems and if a mistake is made, the student is taken to a hint page.

This is an interactive site for grades 1- 12, and a grid makes it easy to find an appropriate game for a specific grade level. Each game has 3 - 4 levels of difficulty.

Harcourt Animated Math Glossary

This has a very complete glossary of math terms for each grade level, 1-8. In the primary grades, the term is accompanied by a visual and/or very brief definition, and in junior/intermediate grades, the term is accompanied by a description and examples.

Harcourt Math Advantage

This site requires the "shock wave" plug-in, and is suitable for grades 1-8. Most strands are represented except Data Management and Probability. It includes an Animated Math Glossary appropriate for each grade level. This site contains resources for all strands and grade levels including discussion groups, problems of the week, units and lessons. This is a question and answer service for math students and their teacher with a searchable archive available organized by level and topic. Math Goodies: Free Interactive Math Lessons

These 54 interactive math lessons grouped in 8 modules actively engage students in the learning process and provide them with immediate feedback. Each lesson provides examples with solution, definitions and explanation and at the end of each module challenge exercises are included and could be used to assess understanding of module concepts. It addresses all strands except geometry.

Math Word Problems for Children

This site includes thematic word problems (some are American-based) as well as word problems based on children's books. (2 levels &endash; Grades 1-3, Grades 3+ to 5). It also includes sets of word problems organized by topic for each grade level including answers. Gr. 1 basic operation problems include pictures; Gd.2&3 problems address most strands; Gd.3&4, 5&6 problems make a connection to other subject areas. Students are asked to explain and show their work.

Webmath at Discovery School

An excellent site for exploring, interactively, all areas of math. Good explanations and graphics help the learner to better understand. A teacher could easily print out and example to better illustrate concepts.
