This month --- Three D Text

It's going to be tough to follow last month's transparent moose, but I'll try...

Check out the text below.

Pretty boring, isn't it. It's just sort of two dimensional and just sits there. In terms of Hyperstudio how-to's, I just added a text book to the screen and used the Stencil font at a point size of 36. Yawn.

Now, let's try this. Copy the text box and then immediately paste it.

Right. You SHOULDN'T be able to see any difference. You just have the same graphic sitting on top of the original. Now we doctor it using our moose technique.

Double click on the graphic. Change the text to a different colour, and from the Features menu, make the background transparent.

So now, we have two text boxes with the top one a different colour and a transparent background. We can now make our text take on a three dimensional effect by selecting the top graphic and slightly offsetting it from the bottom graphic. With a little skill and experimentation, you can come up with all kinds of special effects!

You can't beat a little three dimensional text to add a great effect to a stack.

How can it get better? The Ministry of Education has just licensed Hyperstudio 4 as an upgrade to the Hyperstudio 3 that we have in our schools. There are all kinds of enhancements in the new package. We'll start to investigate them in September.
