This month --- Chicken Reflections

There’s an interesting set of filters with Hyperstudio 4 from the Flaming Pear series.  In this example, we’ll take our chicken for a walk along the river…

Let’s add a clipart image and we’ll select chicken.bmp, my favourite chicken.  Now, the whole idea is that the chicken is walking along the river and will see its reflection in the water.  The reflection does maintain all of the integrity of the original image but the ChromaSolarize feature from the Flaming Pear series gives a nice sunny, reflected "off the water" look to the image.

So, here we go.

Select the chicken with the lasso tool and move it to an appropriate spot on the screen.

Draw the water. I use the freehand tool to draw the horizon and then the fill tool to fill the river.

Select the chicken with the selection tool and make a copy of it.  Now, we have to make a refection from it.

Perfect for the task, we can adjust the chicken by selecting the flip upside down effect.  Select the chicken again and this time, we’re going to resize it.  No reflection is ever exactly the same size…our chicken image will be about 70% of the original.

Move the chicken feet into place to get a true reflection in the water.  Finally, use the ChromaSolarize effect to make the image look reflected.

Isn't that beautiful?
