CIESC Annual Meeting

Monday, May 13 is the Annual CIESC evening.  We've held this night with colleagues from the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board for a number of years now.  It's a chance to recognize the efforts that the CIESCs put in as the computer liaison for the school.  This year's event will be held at Villanova High School in LaSalle.

The evening starts with computer workshops geared towards the CIESC:

bullet What's New with Mathville Software?
Mary Pat MacDonald, Courseware Solutions
bullet Photoediting with Adobe Photoshop Elements
Diane Bedard - Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board
bullet Introduction to Clay Animation
Gisèle Winger, Janice Blencowe - CAIT, Puce Public School
bullet Hyperstudio
Rob Murphy - St. Christopher School
bullet Handheld Computers Testimonials
Dan Pelland, Jamie Lamb, Brenda Mascaro, Kingsville, D.M.Eagle, Roseville Public Schools
bullet Filemaker Pro
Barney Lawn - Core Solutions Software

and the keynote speaker for the evening is Gordon McKye, an Apple Distinguished Educator.  It should be a great evening.

Hyperstudio Festival Wraps Up

I am delighted to report that the GECDSB Hyperstudio Festival had some incredible submissions again this year.  Seventeen schools managed to get projects complete and submitted as part of our festival.

There are some spectacular projects running the entire range from Mathematics to Science, Social Studies, to Language Arts and more.  It never fails to amaze when you look at the creativity that comes through when students are provided with the tools and the time to "tell their story".

The prototype for the Hyperstudio Festival CD-ROM will be unveiled at the CIESC Annual Meeting and school copies distributed to the schools shortly thereafter.

My congratulations to the students and teachers who made this year's Festival a success.  These projects show the very best in computer integration and everyone should be extremely proud of the efforts that represent their school.
