Introducing
SMART Ideas |
The Ontario Curriculum and all disciplines recognize the need for organizing, illustrating, problem solving, and brainstorming. In fact, the Ontario Curriculum Unit Planner has an entire section devoted to a discussion of graphic organizers and a sampling of various organizers such as a Venn Diagram, Fishbone, Ladder, etc. Until this point, you would have had to create your own organizer document using a drawing program such as is included in Appleworks or purchase a commercial product like Visio, Inspiration, or SmartDraw. Eduplace also has a big sampling at: http://www.eduplace.com/graphicorganizer/ Coming in September will be the newly Ministry licensed SMART Ideas software. This is a full featured product that should prove simpler to use than some of the extremely complicated products and yet, be more sophisticated than some of the glorified drawing products. If you're interested in previewing the software, a 30 day demo can be downloaded from http://www.smarttech.com. If you've used the graphic organizers that come with the Planner in Appleworks format, you may wish to download this file. I've converted all of the templates that come from the Planner into SMART Ideas format.
