BookIT Gets Overhauled

With this announcement to the system:

Since 2000, the GECDSB has used the BookIT program to register teachers, principals and GECDSB employees for Professional Development events. In that time, we have offered 1,601 Professional Development events and taken 25,711 registrations using the system. The system has served us well, taking registrations, managing class lists, producing Certificates of Participation, generating feedback for facilitators, and managing Professional Development histories.

The software for the existing system will soon be replaced with an upgrade. All of the existing course records and usernames will be imported into the new system. Registrants will be able to use the same username and password as they are currently using.

we're about to bid adieu to BookIT as we know it, and welcome a new BookIT to the system. The former software was actually called "Insite for Education". A complete overhaul with a new database and a new look will be very easy to see with the new BookIT using the software "PD Place".

As noted above, the functionality that has always been there will remain with the new software. But, you'll find quicker response and more flexibility to manage your Professional Development sessions in the new software.

The switchover is scheduled for the first part of May -- use the same login and password as always. Your records and Professional Development history will be migrated to the new system.

Bursaries and Scholarships
It's the time of year when our graduates are starting to think seriously about colleges and universities. More importantly, how am I going to afford this?

The Financial Research page has a number of new Bursaries available. Money isn't everything but it is required to pay for the hefty bills for post-secondary education. Look also to links to the financial pages for all Ontario colleges and universities.
