This month --- More NBAs than you can shake a stick at!
Hyperstudio has a hook in the button definition area that keeps the program current and vital by allowing software writers to create original routines that aren't already part of Hyperstudio.
Before Hyperstudio 4, there was a big difference between what was available on the Macintosh platform and the Windows platform. One of the most notable was an NBA known as Blabbermouth. It's an NBA that lets Hyperstudio use the voice capabilities of your computer to read a passage. With the release of Hyperstudio 4, there is a big library of NBAs available (although not all NBAs are available on both platforms yet).

If you're keeping score, the Macintosh is still ahead 46-25. But no matter how you cut it, there are still a lot of NBAs available for both platforms!
How do you know what they do? When you select a New Button Action in the "Things to Do" panel, there is a small window that you can scroll through to figure things out. However, the folks at Knowledge Adventure have made things easier. If you click on this link, your browser should let you view a PDF document suitable for printing and framing that describes each NBA in detail.
