Class Tips and Hints |
What's your email address? "Doug underscore Peterson at GECDSB dot on dot ca" OK, could you spell that? "D O U G un_der_score P E T E R S O N ..." Huh? That underscore thing does drive people crazy. On your keyboard it's on the same key as the dash. OK, which one is the underscore? Can I use the one on the numberpad? Do I have to press the SHIFT key to get it? Geez! It's worth getting correct though since your email address lets you send and receive messages to anyone else anywhere on the Internet. It's a pretty good deal. Just hard to spell. It's "Doug_Peterson@gecdsb.on.ca". Things have got a little more friendly. In addition to the traditional First Class address above, everyone now has an alternative email address that's a little easier to spell or to say over the phone. Now, when someone asks you your email address, you can proudly say: "Doug dot Peterson at GECDSB dot on dot ca" In fact, if you send an email message to someone on the Internet, that's the way that it now appears, so we might as well get it right. It's now "Doug.Peterson@gecdsb.on.ca". That shouldn't be a problem from now on until you have to describe what an "at" is or whether a "dot" is the same as a "period".
