Leadership

By the time this newsletter gets published, all Greater Essex County teachers should have received their copy of the GECDSB Teachers' Essentials CD-ROM. You'll want to use this resource to make sure that you have the latest of things like the Early Years' Report Card on your home computer.

There is a new addition to the CD-ROM this year.

Superintendent Doug Fox has an active section of the board's First Class system devoted to leaders and those who aspire to be leaders. These people have been encouraged to start discussions, share resources, etc. in the Leaders' Conference. It's been a pretty active place for the past few years.

Last spring, Mr. Fox came to me asking for advice about how to share the wit and wisdom that has been cultivated in this conference. On the CD-ROM, you'll see the result. It's called the GECDSB Leadership Database. It installs easily from the Teachers' Essentials CD-ROM on both the Macintosh and Windows program and requires Filemaker Pro in order to run.

Once installed, start it from your Programs Menu.

The contents of the conference over the years has been categorized as either a Leadership Quote, Discussions about Leadership Issues, or Leadership Internet Websites.

Click on any of the teal buttons to reveal an index of the messages, sorted by date.

A little "teaser" appears on the right. If you want to read the entire contents of that particular entry, just give it a click.

In the assembly of this, I was so impressed with both the quantity and quality of the content that we had developed locally.

Kudos to Superintendent Fox for creating this forum. I hope that leaders and aspiring leaders find it helpful. It's a first attempt to put something like this together so we're not naive enough to think that it's done. Suggestions for improvement or other resources can be submitted by clicking on the email link.
