I was fortunate to use Claris HomePage to create my Webquest which in my opinion, was very user-friendly. I am not sure that I could do the same with some of the newer programs without a three day mini-course. At least once a year, I check my external links and every time I have at least one sight that must be updated so it is important to be vigilant in this regard. The first time you assign a Webquest for your students, you will find that it goes slowly because there will be things that you did not think of - consider your first year a field test! Share what you are doing with parents. Send a letter home inviting them to view the projects/assignment with their son/daughter. Ask them for feedback. In my experience, in a class of over 30, I usually get one comment back but it has always been positive. Enlist the help of other teachers who work with your class. Finally, remember that anything you do on the computer inevitably takes longer to complete so you have to believe that the time is productive! |
