CONSIDERATIONS
- WEBQUEST IN THE CLASSROOM
Once you have found a Webquest
to use with your students, consider the issues below before implementing the
Webquest in the classroom.
- Assess required background
knowledge of your students. You may have to lay the ground work before introducing
students to the concepts in the Webquest.
- Would students benefit
from working independently, with partners or in small groups?
- Collect other resources
that may add to the learning environment. See your Teacher-Librarian for additional
resources that may peek students' interest in the topic.
- Consider ways in which
you could introduce the Webquest to your class. (You may want to use a data
projector).
- Estimate a time frame
when students would reasonably be able to complete the task.
- You may want to use a
tracking system to ensure that students don't fall behind. A tracking sheet
is a great way to monitor student progress. Break the task into parts and
establish deadlines that require your signature on completed work before students
move on.
- Provide a link to the
Webquest so that students do not have to type in lengthy URL's.
