Welcome Back
to School
Hope you all had
a very relaxing and restful summer holiday.
CAIT
Schedule
This year the CAITs will b70e
returning to a predictable schedule of one visit every two weeks.
We believe that this will work with increased effectiveness for
the schools. This will benefit teachers: who need more frequent
support, or who wish to develop more sophisticated and prolonged
projects. Because of these changes teachers will be required to
book their CAITs in advance of the school visit dates.
Please email your CAIT and provide the following information:
Teacher's name:
Location:
Time:
Purpose:
The CAITs are looking forward
to working with the teachers on new project ideas for integrating
technology into the classrooms. Check our schedules and book us
today.

AppleWorks
Worksheets
Unit Worksheets
Create all of your
handouts and worksheets in AppleWorks and use them yearly. It
is essential that you think about your layout and keep it consistent
for each subject area. Primary and Junior teachers may wish to
change the font. I have found that Century Gothic in an 18 font
is good for primary and 14 for junior. Try a few sizes and see
what works best for you and your class. Century Gothic is one
of the few fonts that has the correct formation of the letter
a. (The one that is written with a ball and a stick.)
Tip: Tired of having to set
the font each time you use AppleWorks? Wish to continually use
for ex. Century Gothic to create your worksheets? Go to Edit...
Preferences...Topic... Text... Default Font: select Century Gothic..Click
on Make Default.
Tip: Want to always keep your
original document intact and not allow any changes to it? Create
your document as usual but at the Save window make sure that you
check off Stationery button for Mac or Save as type: click on
the little down arrow and select AppleWorks Stationery (*.cws).
Perfect for worksheets that you hand out to your students.

eTeacher
3
eTeacher3 is available on the Teacher Essentials
2002 CD. If you haven't already, now if the time to export any
libraries that you have created in eTeacher 2 so that you will
be ready to import your libraries for first term Reports.
What new in eTeacher3?
Probably the greatest time saver is a single button that will
spell check the entire report card. Yeah!
The Comment Builder has changed a little. You will now be able
to create all of your comments as though they were statements
and now there is a phrase editor for your commonly used phrases
.
Please note that there is a Change Password
function. The CAITs do not have a password that can override a
new password, so beware, change the password at your own risk.
The CAITs will be creating instructions for
the various procedures in eTeacher3 i.e.. importing and saving
your tab file, saving and importing your comment libraries. Need
some assistance? Don't hesitate to ask.

FileMaker Pro 5.5
This year, all school networks have been converted
to FileMaker 5.5. This program is not backward compatible, meaning
that when you open an older 4.1 file in version 5.5, it will be
converted to the new format. Version 4.1 cannot read any 5.5 files,
so if you do work on version 5.5 at school, you must have version
5.5 at home to read them.
This is especially important for special education
teachers using the IEP program, and for Early Years teachers using
the JK/SK reports. You can install the new FileMaker program from
the Teacher Essentials CD.
Good
luck and wishing you all a successful school year.
