The Greater Essex County District School Board is committed
to providing safe learning, teaching, and work environments
for students, staff and community members.
It is essential that all students have a safe, caring
and accepting school environment in order to maximize their
learning potential. A positive school climate is
needed to promote “responsibility, respect, civility
and academic excellence” within the school.
These
positive standards of behaviour apply not only to students,
but also to all individuals involved in our school system – parents
or guardians, volunteers, visitors, teachers and other
staff members – whether they are
on school or Board property, on school buses, at bus transfer
points, or at school or Board-authorized events or activities.
Adherence to these requirements and to those set out by
the Education Act, Part XIII is expected
of all members of the school community.
The Board supports these guiding principles through its
Safe Schools policy, regulations, administrative procedures
and related guidelines.
