Adult Literacy & Basic Skills (LBS)
The Adult Literacy program helps learners in their transitions to work, further education and training or independence.
This program is offered to adults who have
difficulty reading, writing, spelling and/or doing basic
math, or preparing for the GED.

Employment skills are emphasized for
first time job seekers or those returning to the workforce.

An
assessment is given to assist each learner in identifying
strengths and transferable skills.

Each learner is assisted
in understanding and developing goals.

An individualized
training plan is developed with each student with the
teacher as facilitator.

Learners have access
to computers and the internet.

Class times:
Classes are offered on a full or part time schedule.
The student timetable is based on location, availability
and scheduling.
- Mornings – 9:00am to 11:30am (5 days per week)
- Afternoons – 12:30pm to 3:00pm (5 days per

- Nights – 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm (2 nights

TB Mandatory School Test
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit offers a School Screening
Program for Tuberculosis for all elementary, secondary,
and Adult Education ESL students, who have been in Canada
less than one (1) year. It is also for those students
who have lived outside of Canada for more than one (1)
year.
Local school boards require students to attend the screening
program prior to entry into schools. Students are seen
by appointment only. Tests are done on Tuesdays
and results are read on Thursdays. Attendance at school
begins only after the principal receives written notification
from the Health Unit.
A translator/interpreter must accompany
anyone who doesn’t
understand English well.
When booking an appointment, you will need:
- Student’s Name
- Address and Phone Number
- Country of Birth
- Health Card Number (if available)
- Doctor’s Name
