The Greater Essex County District
School Board takes great pride in providing a variety of
high quality programs and services to meet the needs of our
learners with special needs and our students who are deemed
at-risk.  We are committed to fulfilling our Board’s
Mission statement of providing “learning opportunities
which support, challenge, and inspire all students to achieve
their full potential and enable them to participate meaningfully
in their communities”.
As you browse through the Special Education portion of the
website you will note many of our programs and services are
listed. The website pages were redesigned so that our
information is easy to access and read. As you
read through the documents, always remember that the information
shared here is intended to be a starting point for you. Please
contact your principal or other school based team members
for further information. 
The school based team members work efficiently and in collaboration
when creating solutions that require the allocation of resources,
including human resources, to be distributed with great thought
and integrity. We recognize and acknowledge that strong
partnerships among parents, education staff, and community
agencies are always in the best interests of the learner. This
multi-disciplinary approach supports the learner as well
as the classroom teacher and educational support staff and
is a key component of our success in educating our students
and in our program delivery model.
Our staff is to be applauded for their dedication and commitment
to their craft. The centre of every conversation is
the learning of students and how to improve their academic
achievement. In the Special Education department, we
pay close attention to improving literacy and numeracy skills
as well as promoting independence.
