(SEAC)
What is S.E.A.C.'s Role?
- to make recommendations to the board in respect of any matter affecting the establishment, development and delivery of special education programs and services for students who are exceptional of the board
- to participate in the board’s annual review of its special education plan
- to participate in the board’s budget process as it relates to special education
- to review the financial statements of the board as they relate to special education
Association Representatives
The role of an association representative on
S.E.A.C. extends beyond committee membership and attendance
and may include the following:
- acting as a resource for parents/guardians of students who are exceptional
- providing information on Identification, Placement and Review Committee (I.P.R.C.) and appeal procedures
- being a resource for the schools or community
- providing information from the association for S.E.A.C. and the school board
- participating in professional workshops held by various associations, school boards, and schools to address the needs and concerns of students who are exceptional
