Unencumbered planning support for individuals with a developmental disability and their families.  Mediates between the person requiring services and those offering them.  Assists with the formal and informal contractual agreements for services purchased when requested.

Physical Supports

Attendant Services programs provide non-medical personal support, homemaking services and assistance with tasks of daily living to adults with permanent physical disability.  Attendant Services are delivered on an outreach basis or at supportive living sites associated with APPD.  Additional respite services are available to provide relief to caregivers.

Facilitated peer support group, enhancing personal life experience through effective communication and interaction with others.  Non-profit agency providing rehabilitation for blind, visually impaired, deaf blind individuals.  Includes rehabilitation teaching orientation, and mobility, technical aids, library services, and transportation services to and from medical appointments.  Resource centre offers talking books, large print and Braille books, interactive toys in red, yellow, green and blue, tactile toys and scented play dough.

Support group for bi-polar (manic depression) or uni-polar (depressive) affective disorders and their families.  Provides social support discussions on mental health and general health and well-being.
Educational puppet program for children provides essential information regarding personal safety, physical and sexual abuse, and encourages abused children to talk to someone about it.  Puppets provide an entertaining and non-threatening way of presenting to young children.

Registered non-profit agency that offers a summer program for persons with autism or pervasive developmental disorder (PDD).  Provides an Autism Resource Lending Library and free monthly workshops.

Physical Activity and Advocacy Supports

Italian Canadian Handicapable Association

The ICHA is a Canadian registered, charitable organization that was founded in 1985, with a focus on providing social and recreational activities for those in Windsor and Essex County with mental and physical disabilities.
Harmony in Action serves adults who have a developmental and/or physical disability, whom training for employment is not a realistic alternative, by providing opportunities to experience personal growth and social integration.
Organization formed to promote sports and social activities for the physically disabled.  Includes track and field, wheelchair basketball, power lifting, and rifle shooting.  Group organizes and provides facilities and opportunities for competition in the Games for the Physically Challenged.
Provides access to hockey for persons with physical disabilities alongside able-bodied athletes.  Junior and intermediate divisions offered. 
Windsor Essex Therapeutic Riding Assoc.

Physical, mental, and emotional therapy through horseback riding.  Provides physiotherapy, psychological and recreational therapy and motivation.  Improves coordination, posture, balance, and mobility.  Supervised by accredited therapeutic riding instructors and therapists.
