BTT10 Information and Communication Technology

This course introduces students to information and communication technology in a business environment and builds a foundation of digital literacy skills necessary for success in a technologically driven society. Students will develop word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, presentation software, and web site design skills. Throughout the course, there is an emphasis on digital literacy, effective electronic research and communications skills, and current issues related to the impact of information and communication technology.

BBI2O Introduction to Business

This course introduces students to the world of business, including the concepts, functions, and skills required for meeting the challenges of operating a business in the twenty-first century on a local, national, and/or international scale. Students will also learn concepts and skills related to personal finance, entrepreneurship, and international business.


BTA3O Information and Communication Technology: The Digital Environment

This course prepares students for the digital environment. Using a hands-on approach, students will further develop information and communication technology skills through the use of common business software applications. The concept and operation of e-business will be explored, and students will design and create an e-business web site. The skills developed in this course will prepare students for success in the workplace and/or post secondary studies.

BDI3C Entrepreneurship: The Venture

This course focuses on ways in which entrepreneurs recognize opportunities, generate ideas, and organize resources to plan successful ventures that enable them to achieve their goals. Students will create a venture plan for a student-run school-based or summer business. Through hands-on experiences, students will have opportunities to develop the values, traits, and skills most often associated with successful entrepreneurs.

BAF3M Financial Accounting Fundamentals

This course introduces students to the fundamental principles and procedures of accounting. Students will develop financial analysis and decision-making skills that will assist them in their future studies. Students will acquire an understanding of accounting for service and a merchandising business, computerized accounting, financial analysis, and current issues and ethics in accounting.

ICS3M Computer and Information Science

This course helps students examine computer science concepts. Students will outline stages in software development, define standard control and data structures, identify on- and off-line resource, explain the functions of basic computer components, and develop programming and problem-solving skills by using operating systems and implementing defined practices. As well as identifying careers in computer science, students will develop an understanding of the ethical use of computers and the impact of emergent technologies on society.

BOH4M Business Leadership: Management Fundamentals

The business leadership courses allow students to explore how managers function in organizations and take on the challenge of generating solutions in order to solve problems. These courses allow students to explore the roles, responsibilities, skills, and functions of management. Students will learn the factors that encourage effective leadership practices. Emphasis throughout the courses will be placed on the importance of ethics and social responsibility in the corporate world. Students will learn how to communicate effectively for business purposes. The courses in business leadership will prepare students to work effectively in organizations in positions of employment and management.

BAT4M Financial Accounting Principles

This course introduces students to advanced accounting principles that will prepare them for post-secondary studies in business. Students will learn about financial statements for various forms of business ownership and how those statements are interpreted in making business decisions. This course expands students' knowledge of sources of financing, further develops accounting methods for asset, and introduces accounting for partnerships and corporations.

IDC4U Building Financial Literacy

This course investigates financial management, capital markets, and ways in which capital is acquired.  Students will use diverse information skills, resources, and technologies to gather information related to a variety of Canadian and international financial institutions, investigate the conceptual and mathematical foundations of increasing net worth and examine investment in the stock market (e.g., the risks and safeguards in stock trading, stocks as investments, creating investment portfolios).  They will also analyse the social impact of personal and corporate investment decisions and will learn to solve problems through theoretical investigation, systems thinking approaches and case studies.

BTX4C Information and Communication Technology: Multimedia Solutions

This course provides students with the opportunity to apply their information and communication technology skills while working in a team environment. Through a project-based approach, students will have the opportunity to integrate common business software applications and apply multimedia techniques. Students will further develop their understanding of electronic business and e-commerce environments. The skills acquired in this course will prepare students for success in post-secondary studies and their future careers.

BBB4M International Business Fundamentals

This course provides an overview of the importance of International business and trade in the global economy and explores the factors that influence success in the international markets. Students will learn about the techniques and strategies associated with marketing, distribution, and managing international business effectively. This course prepares students for post secondary programs in business, including international business, marketing, and management.
