S.T.E.P.S.

The S.T.E.P.S. program, new to Kingsville this year, stands for Steps to Enhance Personal Success.

The program derives from the philosophy that students should be able to reach their highest potential while attending local schools. STEPS students at Kingsville DHS. will be working on skills such as home maintenance, shopping, cooking, numeracy and literacy, social skills, as well as physical and health education, woodworking, information technology, communication skills, music and art.

Ultimately the senior students will be placed on co-op at work sites in their communities ( Leamington, Ruthven, Kingsville and the surrounding areas), and take their place as valuable, integral parts of their neighbourhoods. The students and staff have welcomed us with open arms, and we can already see that the program adding a new dimension to the long standing tradition of KDHS to support and help each other and this will continue to strengthen the schools already good reputation in the region.
