1. Why choose KDHS?

YOU should choose KDHS for your high school career because it is a community school, so if you live in the community you will be with your friends. Most of your parents attended KDHS, so it is like carrying on a tradition. We have a standard of excellency: 95% of Kingsville students passed EQAO testing on their first attempt last year, the highest score in our school board. It is a fairly small school therefore class sizes are small and you can receive more one on one learning with the teachers. The teachers are awesome and are willing to work with you after school if you need the extra help. Check out our EQAO score page.

2. Do high school teachers give a lot of homework?

In high school you can expect more homework in certain subjects such as English and Math. It's not unreasonable to expect between 45-60 minutes per night.

3. What will my schedule look like?

We are a semestered school, so you will have four 75 minute classes each semester.

4. What is the difference between academic and applied courses?

Both courses cover essentially the same content, however the academic stream has a more theoretical and abstract focus. The applied courses tend to be more practical and "hands on". Academic courses are required for university entrance, whereas applied courses will prepare you for college and apprenticeship programs. Students may switch streams with the assistance and approval of a guidance counselor.
