WE NEED YOU!

IMPAC is the Parent Advisory Council or "School Council" which is mandated by regulations under Ontario’s Education Act "Through active participation of parents, to improve pupil achievement and to enhance the accountability of the education system to parents. A School Council’s primary means of achieving its purpose is by making recommendations to the principal of the school and the school board."

The principal and the board shall consider each recommendation made and shall advise the council of the action taken in response to the recommendation.

We need at least 9 parents to be members of IMPAC.

As a successful parent,YOU are interested in participating as a member of the school council because you care about your children and their school. As a board member, you will bring a combination of knowledge and abilities gained through years of experience as a good parent in such areas as developing understanding the issues, balancing different interests, mediating and applying your good judgment to help make decisions. You will listen carefully to different points of view, articulate your own and sometimes use your powers of persuasion, as appropriate in the circumstances, thereby having an important influence in your child’s school. You want to get involved because you see the challenges as opportunities for growth and you feel that you have something to contribute.

Compensation: Although the regulations provide that you shall not receive any remuneration for serving as a member or officer of a school council, you will have immense satisfaction because your participation will give you all important information about all the many aspects of your child’s school and you will know that you’ve helped to make the education experience better.
