Begley's own Child & Youth Worker Rob Savage carried the Olympic Torch near Cobourg, Ontario.
It was a treasured experience to be a Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torchbearer. To be a part of bringing the Olympic Flame that much closer to Vancouver to light the Olympic Cauldron was amazing and beyond words. On February 12, 2010, I will reflect upon this experience and think about the path that the flame followed, our students, our school community, fellow torchbearers, the communities along the way, but most importantly, think about our role in helping build a better Canada. That particular day will last a lifetime. The Olympic Flame is a truly remarkable icon. Signifying peace, brotherhood and friendship, it has the power and ability to bring a smile to a face and a tear to an eye. I'm truly humbled to be a part of this and to take our place in history. Warm Regards, Mr. Savage
