The Parenting and Family Literacy Centre
The Ministry of Education recognizes that parent engagement
matters. Student achievement improves when parents play an active
role in their child's education and good schools become even better
schools when parents are involved.
Parent engagement is the cornerstone of Begley's Parenting and
Family Literacy Centre. Take a peek into our PFLC any day and you
will see parents, grandparents, and caregivers actively involved in
all aspects of our play-based learning environment alongside their
children from birth to age six.
Research clearly shows that through music, stories and play, babies
and young children can start to build essential skills like sharing,
early literacy, and numeracy. Children become familiarized with
school routines and families are given the chance to meet and offer
support to other families with young children. Families are also
given the opportunity to learn about community resources, and to
have their parenting concerns addressed.
The program is free to attend and no pre-registration is required.
Feel free to drop in any time to room 162 for additional information
and a tour of our classroom.
