How did LaSalle Public School become involved?

On Nov. 5, award-winning Canadian author, Eric Walters, came to talk about his writing with our intermediate students. As part of his presentation, Eric introduced a project he had recently started, called The Creation of Hope. The Project came as a result of a chance contact Eric made with a young boy while he and his son were visiting Kenya. Eric and his son were in Kenya to build a school in honour of a relative who had died of cancer...but they came home inspired to do more. After hearing about some of the children in Kenya whose lives so desperately need help, the grade 8's at LPS were moved to get involved. They are the organizers behind LPS's involvement, and have already put a number of fundraising plans into motion.

What are some of our plans?

Loose Change Drive - Have some pennies burning a hole in your pocket? Some quarters hanging around your dryer in your laundry room? Bring all your loose change into school, starting Feb. 9, and by March 13, we'll see what we've got!

Turkey Dinner Fundraiser - The grade 8's held this in December and gave $800 of their profit to start our Creation of Hope Project off with a bang!
